An alternative to the traditional funeral home industry, After.com specializes in cremation-only services, and plans to use the funding to expand beyond its current footprint across parts of six states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.

Provo, Utah- and West Palm Beach, Florida-based After.com has closed a Series A Round of funding of $10.0 million

According to the company news release, the funding was led by HIPstr, the early-stage investment arm of HighPost Capital, which launched its investment efforts in August with the $535 million funding of HighPost Capital Fund I.

{NOTE: One of the two founders of HighPost is Mark Bezos, brother of Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos. Mark also happens to be a Director of the Bezos Family Foundation.}

Since its founding in 2020, After.com has developed "... an internet-focused experience helping families to pre-plan or arrange cremation and funeral services in minutes with simple, affordable, and transparent pricing."

Market research firm, Spherical Insights, reports that the "Death Care" market in the United States currently generates $27 billion in annual revenue, an amount expected to reach $41 billion by 2032.

According to After.com Co-Founder, Bryce Bunker,

After.com was started with a simple premise: to provide families experiencing loss with the ability to focus on what matters most during their difficult moments—celebrating the life of a loved one. The current after life care industry is designed to add unnecessary costs, complexity, and stress, the exact opposite of what it should be.”

Bunker has a nearly 16-year history in the funeral / death care industry, and his LinkedIn Profile says he currently serves as President of Bunker Family Funeral Homes in Mesa, Arizona.

After.com's death care services start for as little as $30/month or a one-time fee as low as $995.

Really, really interesting premise and business model.

Good luck, After.com.
