NEWS BRIEF: Sweden's Hexatronic Begins Operations at its New $30 Million Production Facility in Ogden, Utah
Gothenburg, Sweden-based Hexatronic Group has begun operations in its newest production facility, a manufacturing plant located in Ogden, Utah.
According to the Hexatronic news release, the company spent ~$30 million over the past 16 months (through its Lexington, Kentucky-based subsidiary, Blue Diamond Industries), to build-out and equip this new 38,000-square-foot plant in northern Utah.
Through this new manufacturing facility, Blue Diamond will produce HDPE ducting, pipes, and conduits for use in "... residential, power utility, cable TV, broadband, commercial and industrial, and transportation infrastructure investments."
These High-Density Polyethylene conduits are designed to protect fiber optic, data, and power cables both during installation and after they are installed, whether installed underground or within buildings.
Without this new production plant in the western half of the United States, Hexatronic CEO, Henrik Larsson Lyon, said Blue Diamond Industries has been unable to serve prospective customers "... due to high transportation costs."
{NOTE: Previously, the western-most Blue Diamond Industries manufacturing plant was based in the greater Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex.}
According to Ryan Starks, executive director of the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity,
“This expansion will benefit the state's rapid growth and infrastructure needs in construction, transit, and expanding telecom access. Utah’s talented and technical workforce is certain to bolster Blue Diamond in these efforts.”
It is also expected to help meet the continuing growth and expansion needs within the state of Utah as additional buildings and infrastructure projects are developed, built, and brought on-line.
For reference sake, the company expects to employ over 90 individuals at the new plant in Ogden.
