BREAKING NEWS: With the Signing of Egor Demin, BYU Mens Basketball Now Has Three Top 100 Recruits Slated for its 2024-2025 Season
To my understanding, BYU has never before had three incoming Top 100 recruits for its Mens Basketball squad.
At roughly 12noon (MT) yesterday (Monday, 17 June 2024), BYU Athletics announced that EuroLeague standout and projected NBA lottery pick, Egor Demin, has officially signed a National Letter of Intent and will join BYU's Mens Basketball team for the 2024/25 season.
As crazy as it may sound, with the signing of Demin, BYU now has three top incoming freshman on its squad, a first-ever occurrence for The Y ...
- Brody Kozłowski — (named by ESPN as the No. 92 player among its Top 100 recruits for the 2024/25 season; Kozlowski was the first recruit signed by Kevin Young, the new Head Coach of BYU's Mens Basketball Team), and
- Elijah Crawford — (named by ESPN as the No. 98 player among its Top 100 recruits for the 2024/25 season; Crawford was the third recruit signed by Coach Young) ...
with both joining Demin on the BYU roster this fall.
According to the BYU news release,
Demin is a "... 6-foot-9 native of Moscow, Russia (who) helped Real Madrid defend its Adidas Next Generation Tournament title, scoring in double figures in all four games played in Berlin, Germany. (Emphasis added.)
"A projected lottery pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Demin finished with 26 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in the final against PFBB INSEP Paris, going 6-of-12 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line."
Iif you're interested, you can catch highlights of Demin playing for EuroLeague's Real Madrid in this YouTube highlight video below. {NOTE: Yes, he's VERY impressive; his jersey number is 9.}
