BREAKING NEWS: Utah's Davis School District Plans to Sell $100 Million in Bonds Today

The Davis County, Utah-based Davis School District today plans to close a sale of $100 million in tax-exempt, General Obligation Bonds, Series 2025, bonds authorized by the District's Board of Education.

According to its official Public Notice about this fundraising, the monies raised by the Davis School District through the sale of the Series 2025 Bonds will be used for

  • "financing all or a portion of the costs of acquiring land and equipment, constructing new schools and renovating and improving existing facilities, and
  • "paying related expenses."

The Public Notice goes on to state that as of 06 February 2025, the Board had over $542.7 million "... of general obligation bonds currently outstanding."

According to the School District's PRELIMINARY OFFICIAL STATEMENT DATED MARCH 19, 2025 (as found on the MuniOS website), in fiscal 2024 (ended 30 June) the Davis School District had total revenue $959.2 million, an increase of $78.7 million over the comparable period in 2023.

Of that nearly $960 million, 63.7% (over $611 million) came from federal and state aid.

The sale of these Series 2025 Bonds is slated to be completed today by 9:30am (MT), Thursday, 27 March 2025.

Although no specific underwriter is named in its PRELIMINARY OFFICIAL STATEMENT, the District does name Zions Public Finance as its Municipal Advisor and Gilmore Bell as its Legal Advisor.

Formed in 1911, Davis School District is the second largest school district in Utah.

As of the 2022—2023 school years, the District had over 73,000 students learning in K—12 classrooms in 92 total Elementary, Junior High, and High Schools across Davis County (with boundaries of both mirroring each other).
