Annual Sales for Utah's Crumbl Cookie Empire have Now Surpassed $1 Billion, an Overnight WSJ Story Reports

While most Utahns were preparing to be "snuggled in their beds last night," the Wall Street Journal published a tasty, 1,900-word feature story about Lindon, Utah-based Crumbl, the aggressively expanding cookie store franchisor that's now reached over $1 billion in annual sales.

Although we at Utah Money Watch lean toward our own reporting and analysis, sometimes the work of another media outlet is so sweet, we cannot help ourselves from sharing such delectable offerings with others.

And in the case of this WSJ writeup, it qualifies scrumptiously.

For readers unfamiliar with Crumbl, as we've reported previously, the firm got its start in 2017 when it opened its first store in Logan, Utah but soon decided that its sweet path to success would lie in franchising and not in stores it Owned & Operated.

According to its 2023 annual report on the 500 fastest growing restaurant chains, Nations Restaurant News reported that Crumbl had seen

However, based upon last night's mouth-watering writeup by the Wall Street Journal, Crumbl franchisees are now seeing an average of $1.16 million in annual revenue, down from the 2022 results published by NRN in 2023, an annual revenue drop of over 39.1% per store.

Nevertheless, total topline sales across the entire Crumbl network of franchise locations, plus its one O&O store, have now surpassed $1 billion.

The WSJ article goes on to say that Crumbl has over 1,000 locations in the United States today, with 18 more in Canada.

By the end of the month, the chain expects to open ~100 new locations for 2024, with plans to expand into the United Kingdom and Australia.

So all in all, props to Team Crumbl for its dreamy feature story in the latest edition of the Wall Street Journal, as well as its heavenly "overnight success" now nearly eight years in the baking.
